75Y to Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island, Montauk

We made a delightful multi-day cross-country trip in N8475Y (June 2017). From our home airport in Virginia, we flew north and then along the length of Long Island — aptly named … it is very long! Martha’s Vineyard (Massachusetts) is charming — we loved the historic homes, including the wonderful gingerbread houses, including those at the lovely Cottage Park.

From there, we flew west to Block Island (Rhode Island) for lunch. It’s a lovely island, very laid-back. In the air, we overflew the nation’s first offshore wind farm.

It was fun to fly into the tiny Montauk Airport (KMTP). We rented a car and spent a few days poking around the Hamptons, including lovely Sag Harbor. We enjoyed visiting Jackson Pollock’s home & studio in East Hampton. We learned about the whaling history in the area — tough tales to read about in these modern times.
