Miramar Air Show & La Jolla

Wow, what a show! After a COVID hiatus, the MCAS Miramar Air Show (San Diego, CA) was back this year with a tremendous show, featuring the Navy Blue Angels. Bob had attended the Miramar Air Show about 50 years ago, at the invitation of his friend, an officer at Miramar. So it was a lot of fun to go back for this expanded show (Sept. 2022), the world’s largest military air show. You’ll see many of the highlights on Bob’s short video, below. The weather was great, with CAVU (Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited) conditions, and of course the Blue Angels put on a spectacular performance.

We also took the opportunity to visit La Jolla, where Bob went to high school (shout out to the La Jolla High Vikings!) and worked as a life guard. We kayaked through the surf at La Jolla Shores to visit the La Jolla Caves, and got to paddle into Emerald Cave, where its resident seal family welcomed us … quite loudly.

Some of our favorite pics are also here; click on any pic to start a slideshow. And … because we were air show-crazy this month, you can also watch Bob’s short video of our visit (Sept. 18, 2022) to the Joint Base Andrews (DC area) air show, featuring the USAF Thunderbirds. Amazing aviation skills from all the aviators and teams!
